His Excellency (Dr.) Moses N. Badilisha Kiarie during an inspection of the upcoming cold storage facility in Ol’Kalou.
His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta broke ground for the facility during an extensive development tour of Nyandarua with immediate-former Governor Francis Kimemia on January 31, 2020.
Governor Kiarie, who was briefed on the project’s progress, challenged the contractor to complete it by September so as to end post-harvest losses for Nyandarua’s farmers.
The County boss further welcomed the National Government’s ongoing support, noting that a similar facility may be required in Kinangop Sub-County.
He reiterated his Government’s commitment to rapidly multiply clean potato seed varieties at the Agriculture Training Center in Ol’Jororok, alongside the National Youth Service’s farm at Tumaini, Ol’Kalou Sub-County.
Present was acting County Secretary and Head of Public Service Mr. Muigai Wainaina, alongside Chief Officers Ms. Florence Annan (Lands, Housing and Physical Planning), Mr. Juvenalis Thiong’o (Finance), Dr. Rose Oyolo (Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries) and Mr. Samson Mweru (Industrialization, Trade and Urban Development).
