As part of ensuring sustainable water supply to residents in the County during and after the Covid-19 pandemic, His Excellency Governor Francis Kimemia is today making a development tour of water projects in several parts of the County.
Inspecting water projects in Kanjuiri Ridge ward, Governor Kimemia has reassured residents of his unwavering commitment to ensuring that residents across the County access water during this period, and “even after we have overcome this pandemic to enable us have enough for our domestic and agricultural use.”
Among the projects visited is the Rutara dam which is undergoing massive expansion and de-siltation. Once completed in the next six months, Rutara dam will serve thousands of homes in Ngorika division while phase two will see water pumped to further areas in the ward.
Last week, Governor Kimemia oversaw the reconnection of several water boreholes and community projects which had been disconnected over water bills. Further, the County Government has waived water bills and fees to residents for two months as the country fights the global pandemic.
During the visit, the Governor also donated hundreds of facemasks to residents and construction workers in all the development sites.
