A roadmap developed by UN Habitat and the County Government will change the face of Nyandarua, Her Excellency Deputy Governor (Mrs.) Cecilia Mbuthia has said.
Speaking during a meeting between the two entities in Ol’Kalou today, the Deputy Governor noted that the result will be enhanced and sustainable human settlements across the County.
“UN Habitat will provide technical expertise we need towards County planning, infrastructure and economic development, with a special emphasis on urban areas and youth development,” she said.
The Deputy Governor said County and urban spatial planning will support preparation of master plans for integrated urban development, in addition to formation of urban boards in Ol’Kalou, Engineer, Mairo-Inya, Njabini and Miharati.
“The roadmap will also support the planning and construction of basic infrastructure in the five towns to improve service delivery, including sewerage systems, solid waste management and urban drainage,” she said.
Further, revenue collection will be digitized to incorporate latest technologies to increase collection and seal the points of leakage.
A one-stop youth centre will also be constructed to provide seamless access to essential County Government services.
