His Excellency Governor Francis Kimemia hosted Her Excellency the Ambassador of Denmark to Kenya, Ms. Mette Knudsen at the County Government headquarters in Ol’Kalou.
Under the Danish Strategic Sector Co-operation Programme, Nyandarua will be the host County for implementation of a pilot scheme whose objective is to improve food safety, quality and value addition in the dairy and horticulture sub-sectors, with the support of the Danish Ministry for Environment and Food; Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (DVFA); and Kenya’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.
“We have a historic and strategic responsibility to contribute to a strengthening of governance in both sub-sectors and enhance better coordination of responsibilities at both the County and State levels,” he said.
The County head challenged residents to join him in seeking more partnerships and inclusion of additional co-operatives and beneficiaries under the program.
“My vision to re-establish agriculture as the dominant component of Nyandarua’s economy through research, subsidized farm inputs, mechanization, value addition, and best practices remains unwavering,” he concluded.
