Deputy President helps raise a record Sh58 million for Aberdare teachers’ College
Deputy President H.E. William Ruto has helped to raise Sh58.3 million in aid of the proposed Aberdare Teachers Training College in Ndaragwa sub-county.
Ruto was hosted to the ceremony by Nyandarua Governor H.E. Daniel Waithaka Mwangi, area MP Hon. Nderitu Waweru, Nyandarua Senator Hon. Eng. Muriuki Karue and other leaders from the county.
The DP landed in a private helicopter shortly after 2.30 PM and opened the newly constructed Ndaragwa Constituency Office before proceeding to Pondo Primary School grounds where the fundraising ceremony took place.
Thousands of Nyandarua residents lined up the roads to welcome the DP and cheered him wildly together with his delegation.
Addressing thousands of residents who turned up during the ceremony the Deputy President urged leaders in Kinangop to resolve issues surrounding the Kinangop Windmill project saying the project was long overdue.
“This project is going to cost Sh13 billion and it is a mega project that will create wealth through power generation. It is the wish of the Jubilee government that the project takes off immediately,” he declared amid wild cheering from the crowd.
He warned politicians who were inciting the crowd to oppose the project that their days were numbered and the government will deal with them.
“I am warning politicians who are inciting the public that we shall face them and nobody will be spared,” he said.
The DP said the national government will collaborate with Nyandarua County Government to construct Sh2 billion mega dam in Pesi River in Ndaragwa sub-county that is expected to generate 16 million cubic meters of water.
He also announced that a pyrethrum factory will be constructed in Nyandarua to cater for flowers from the region and neighbouring areas saying the Nakuru factory will be revived to cater for flowers from Nakuru and northern part of the country.
Addressing the meeting, the Governor said his administration will provide Sh20 million towards the purchase of land to help expand the Aberdare TTC. He said the Pesi River mega dam was set to kick off by 2016 adding that water will be supplied to Ndaragwa and surrounding sub-counties.

Waweru (Sh300,000), organising committee (Sh200,000), Hon. Eng Karue (Sh80,000), Hon. Speaker Ndegwa Wahome (Sh50,000), Hon. Nderitu Mathenge of Gilgil (Sh50,000), Hon. Wanjiku Muhia (Sh20,000), Hon. Stephen KK Mburu (Sh50,000), H.E. Waithaka Mwangi Kirika (Sh100,000), Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Kimemia (Sh100,000), Hon,. Njogu Barua (Sh 30,000), Hon. David Kiaraho (Sh100,000) and Spouses of MPs (Sh65,000).
Others who contributed included Energy Cabinet Secretary Hon. Davis Chirchir, MPs Hon. Samuel Gichigi (Kipipiri), Hon. J.M Waiganjo (Ol’joro-Orok), Hon. Peter weru (Mathira), Hon. Mutahi Kimaru (Laikipia East) and County Ministers, Peter Kungu, Judy Mwangi, Eng. Charles Chiuri and Nderi Ndiani.
The DP directed |Nyandarua County Commissioner Mr. Wilson Njega to ensure all the fertilizer stolen from Nyahururu NCPB depot three weeks ago is recovered and supplied to farmers. He threatened to take action against security agencies if they failed to recover the fertilizer.
However, the DP announced the Ministry of Agriculture has made alternative arrangements to supply more fertilizer to farmers in Nyandarua County ahead of the planting season.
