Defence Cabinet Secretary Gen (Rtd) Joseph Nkaissery today declared total war against provincial administrators who had failed to eradicate second generation brews in their areas.

Addressing District Commissioners, Assistant County Commissioners, Chiefs, assistant chiefs and security agencies in Ol’Kalou town, Gen. Nkaissery said government will dismiss persons found to be working in with distributors and sellers of illegal brews.

“I have come to bring bad news to you; those found to have failed in the war against second generation brews will be fired today,” declared Gen. Nkaissery during a no-nonsense address to security agencies meeting in Ol’Kalou Catholic Church Hall.

The CS flew to Ol’Kalou shortly after 11AM in two choppers and was met by Nyandarua leaders led by the Governor H.E Daniel Waithaka Mwangi, the Senator Hon. Muriuki Karue, County Commissioner Wilson Njega and MPs Hon. Wanjiku Muhia, David Kiaraho (Ol’Kalou), Stephen Kinyanjui Mburu (Kinangop) and Waweru Nderitu (Ndaragwa).

Gen. Nkaissery said President Uhuru Kenyatta had given him full mandate to deal decisively against culprits in the Provincial Administration who had reneged in the war against illegal brews.

“The President gave me a job and I have to do it; we have three enemies in Kenya today- terrorism, cattle rustling and proliferation of illegal brews,” he said and declared the war must be won if the country was to record economic growth.

He said President Kenyatta had tasked MPs and county leaders with the job of eradicating illegal brews within 96 hours beginning last Saturday and all areas must be free from the second generation brews by mid-night of July 6, 2015.

“If any chief or assistant chief is unable to eradicate illegal brews from their areas by mid-night tonight, he or she must be prepared to quit his job and the position will be advertised within three days,” declared the CS.
He said the war on illegal brews was serious and not even the County Commissioners, Deputy County Commissioners or Assistant County Commissioners will be spared if found culpable.

Nyandarua Governor H.E.Daniel Waithaka Mwangi , said he had teamed up several legislators in destroying illegal brews in Ol’joro-Orok, ol’Kalou, Kipipiri and Kinangop sub-counties and thanked Chiefs and their assistants who had co-operated during the exercise.

“We have moved from one place to another destroying the brews. This fight must be won because we have a duty to save our children and the future generation which is threatening by the very existence of these brews,” he declared.
Kinangop MP Stephen Kinyanjui Mburu said some Administration Police officers had refused to co-operate in the eradication of the illegal brews and were behaving like a law unto themselves.

“Some of the APs don’t even take orders from chiefs or DCs under the guise of awaiting orders from above. I ask the CS to take strong action against them,” the MP said.

While addressing the group, the CS announced that chiefs and their assistants will be supplied with motorbikes starting September this year and also given money to cater for fuel and air-time.

“From now hence, your money will be sent directly to you so that you can account directly to the Treasury and not through DCs as it happened before. Nobody will be allowed to squander your money,” the CS said amid thunderous applause from the administrators who jammed the Catholic Church Hall in Ol’Kalou town.
