The County Government of Nyandarua has fumigated almost every market and public space within the County in a massive campaign running for the last one week and intended to stop the possibility of the Covid-19 pandemic spreading through use of these facilities.
Last evening, the campaign went a notch higher when the inter-department team leading the fumigation led in a major exercise in select areas of Ol’Kalou town frequented by high populations of people. Among these areas were the bus-parks, the market streets, Jamaa Supermarket, Ol’Kalou’s main and open markets (which had been fumigated earlier in the week and remain priority areas for repeat fumigation) and boda-boda collection points.
The exercise was conducted in the evening after the curfew to ensure little disruptions and maximum number of areas are reached. Informal settlements with high populations were also targeted and remain priority areas.
Other areas disinfected in the week include the Ol’Kalou Police station, markets and bus-stops in all the sub-counties and roadside markets among them Nyakariang’a in Ol’Joro-orook. The exercise continues.
