It is all systems go as final preparations were made to ensure all equipment under the County Rural Roads Construction Units/ Programme are ready for the official launch slated for Tuesday next week.
Speaking after inspecting the machinery at the County headquarters this afternoon, His Excellency Governor Francis Kimemia assured residents that the flagship project, which is one of the biggest single investments by a County government since devolution, will see the transformation of all roads in the County.
“Once implemented, and successfully so, this rural roads improvement programme will see all our roads fully opened up and constructed to motorable standards within the next three years. We are glad for the support residents and all actors have shown towards this programme, and it will succeed,” Governor Kimemia added.
The machinery have been bought through funds won by the County Government – in 2018 and 2019, where the County was number two and one respectively – under the World Bank’s Kenya Devolution Support Programme which assess a County’s prudent financial management and governance structures. Nyandarua County is again among the top in the current ranking.
Launching of the machinery and construction units – clustered in five wards, will be done next week. A modern and real-time fleet management and control system has been deployed to ensure accountability and value for money.
