Nyandarua Governor H.E. Daniel Waithaka Mwangi (center) welcomes to his office the Managing Director of Puxin Kenya, Ms Martha Kagiri (third right) who paid him a courtesy call in his Ol’Kalou town office. Ms Kagiri was accompanied by Ms Alice Mwaisaka (right) the national project co-ordinator for ILO.
Others present included the CEC member in charge Industrialisation, Trade and Co-operatives Hon. Judy Mwangi (right) and the MCA for Engineer town Ward Hon. Mwangi Gichuki. Ms Kagiri, who hails from Engineer Ward has come up with a concept of Green Soko whose aim is to clean up all urban centers in Nyandarua County and recycle the waste collected from the towns to manufacture plastic poles, provide biogas, electricity and fertiliser.
The Governor said he was impressed by the firm’s proposal- which entails working in collaboration with other stakeholders- to clean up urban centers and turn garbage into a business opportunity and create employment.
Ms Kagiri said her firm, in partnership with other investors, will soon present its proposal to the Governor for consideration by the cabinet to allow her proceed. She suggested the need to enact strong laws barring the use of wood products such as poles for fencing, firewood and charcoal.
