At Ol’Kalou Stadium, where works have commenced to upgrade the facility to international standards.
In remarks delivered on his behalf by County Executive Committee Member for Youth, Sports, Gender and Social Services Hon. Ann-Mary Gathigia, His Excellency Governor Francis Kimemia said the works aim at introducing inner and outer perforated pitch drainage systems; terraces; pop-up sprinklers; ground leveling and planting of standard grass.
Governor Kimemia added that a committee to monitor the project’s progress will be established and plans effected for continuity of sports activities away from the stadium.
Works on the high-altitude facility, which is one of the County boss’ flagship projects, is being carried out by Harris General Enterprise in conjunction with the Department of Transport, Energy and Public works and Sports Kenya.
Present was Chief Officer for Youth, Sports, Gender and Social Services Mr. Isaac Waithaka, Senior Director at Harris Enterprise Ms. Anastasia Thuku, Sports Kenya’s Eng. Roy Ruga and Athletics Kenya’s Nyandarua Chairperson Mr. Francis Kamau, among other National and County Government officials.
