Cabinet Secretary for Information Communication Technology, Innovation and Youth Affairs Hon. Joe Mucheru and His Excellency Governor Francis Kimemia presiding over the official launch of the Boda Boda Empowerment Initiative at Ol’Kalou Stadium.
Supported by both the Government of Kenya and BodaBoda Safety Association of Kenya, the initiative effectively brings together Nyandarua’s estimated 8,000 riders, with over 400 picking points.
Assuring the riders of His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta’s support, Hon. Mucheru noted that a County Boda Boda Sacco will enable the riders to join the Jaza Collective Investment Scheme, an initiative of the National Government under the ministry he heads.
Assuring the riders of his complete support, Governor Kimemia rallied them to organize themselves into Saccos.
The Governor announced that the County Government will provide all active Saccos with containers that will serve as offices, in addition to digitization of operations to curb motorcycle theft.
Present were all members of the County Executive Committee and Chief Officers, among other senior National and County Government officials.
In attendance was the National BodaBoda Chairperson Mr. Kevin Mbadi, Mr. Jack Nderitu (Nyandarua and Central Region Economic Bloc), Mr. Samuel Munyiri (Nakuru) and Mr. Charles Gituma (Tharaka-Nithi), among hundreds of riders.
