The roles of ICT Directorate include promoting the use of technology to enhance service delivery, improve governance, and drive economic development at the county level. The Directorate’s specific roles responsibilities include:
Technology Infrastructure: ICT directorate is responsible for developing and maintaining the necessary technology infrastructure within the county government. This involves setting up computer networks, internet connectivity, and hardware infrastructure required for efficient information and communication management.
Systems Development and Implementation: ICT Directorate is involved in developing and implementing information systems and software applications that streamline county government operations. This includes systems for finance and accounting, human resource management, procurement, land management, public service delivery, and other administrative functions.
Data Management and Analytics: ICT Directorate play a crucial role in managing and analyzing data within the county government. They are responsible for data collection, storage, security, and ensuring data integrity. They may also be involved in data analysis to generate insights that can inform decision-making processes.
E-Government Services: ICT Directorate work towards the digitization and automation of government services to make them accessible to citizens electronically. The team oversee the development and maintenance of e-government platforms, such as county government websites, online portals, and mobile applications, to provide services such as payment of fees, submission of applications, and access to government information..
ICT Policy Formulation: ICT Directorate is responsible for formulating and implementing ICT policies and strategies within the county government. We ensure that the use of technology aligns with national ICT policies and guidelines, and they may also develop county-specific policies to address local needs and challenges.
Capacity Building and Training: The Directorate provide training and capacity-building initiatives to county government staff to enhance their digital literacy and skills. This entails organizing workshops, seminars, and training programs to ensure that employees can effectively utilize ICT tools and systems in their work.
Collaboration and Coordination: The Directorate collaborate with other county departments, national government agencies, and external stakeholders to foster partnerships and leverage resources for ICT initiatives. We also coordinate with relevant bodies, such as the Communications Authority of Kenya and the ICT Authority, to ensure compliance with national ICT standards and regulations.
