Ownership documents verification exercise for 67 plots, ahead of the formal issuance of title deeds to residents of Rurii Ward

Representing His Excellency Governor (Dr.) Moses N. Badilisha Kiarie, Chief Officer for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development Mr. Julius Ng’ambi presided over an ownership documents verification exercise for 67 plots, ahead of the formal issuance of title deeds to residents of Rurii Ward, Ol’Kalou Sub-County.
The squatters, who worked on previously white-owned farms, were aggregated into colonial villages with no meaningful ownership documents, denying them the opportunity to construct permanent houses, access to credit facilities and basic social services due to constraints of space.
Locally known as “Site,” Rurii is one of the 28 colonial villages in Nyandarua targeted by the Governor for the second phase of the County’s titling program.
Its 101 plots were verified under Phase One, pending issuance of land lease certificates.
Nyandarua’s colonial villages are estimated to host 5,000 households, with an approximate population of 50,000 people.
Mr. Ng’ambi was accompanied by area Member of the County Assembly Hon. Thinji Kiriga, alongside Directors Mr. Samuel Kamau (Survey and Mapping) and Mr. Kimone Kimone (Public Participation).
Also present was Rurii Ward Administrator Mr. Stephen Kiiru and officials from the National Land Commission.
