Nyandarua University groundbreaking at Kapten

Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development CS Alice Wahome presided over the groundbreaking for the first phase of Nyandarua University in Karua Ward — a reported Sh1.3 billion phase covering a 1,300-bed hostel, 20 university classrooms and 30 classrooms for an attached technical and vocational institute, on 91 acres near Captain Market.

Gilgil–Ol Kalou–Nyahururu railway line reopens after 46 years

Kenya Railways resumed passenger and freight services on the historic metre-gauge line through Ol Kalou, rehabilitated with Ministry of Defence engineering support. The Nyahururu Safari ("Thompson") Train now links Nairobi, Gilgil, Ol Kalou and Nyahururu, and a rail siding serves the NCPB depot in Ol Kalou for fertiliser and produce.

Ol Kalou Township Affordable Housing Project — Phase II

Construction continues on Phase II of the Ol Kalou Affordable Housing Project near the County Assembly and Law Courts. The Boma Yangu-listed development mixes social, affordable and market-rate units with a kindergarten, commercial stalls, social hall and primary school, as part of a broader plan reported to target 2,500 housing units for Ol Kalou.

Huruma informal settlement upgrade completed

A Sh400 million KISIP/World Bank grant funded new tarmac roads, concrete pedestrian pavements and a covered storm-water drainage network in Ol Kalou's Huruma settlement, turning a previously flood-prone, high-crime area into an active economic zone.

Ol Kalou's post-devolution growth

County leadership points to expanded utilities (water, electricity, ICT), the county's own cabro production plant, and the upgrade and expansion of JM Memorial Hospital as part of the town's transformation from a small trading centre into the county headquarters and a regional business hub.

The Municipal Board has held a run of public participation and review sessions: the five-year Integrated Development Plan (IDeP 2022–2027) review in Karau Ward, feedback on the Integrated Strategic Urban Development Plan (ISUDP) at Ardhi House in Kaimbaga Ward, and allocation of the new Ol'Kalou modern market at ACK Hall, Kaimbaga Ward.
